History and growth of the business:
Con’s General store was established in June 2013. Its continued growth is the result of great coffee, food and (most importantly) old fashioned service.
The nostalgic times where “life was simpler and good old fashioned service” was everything led Con Georgiou to buy the Watsons Bay Milk Bar.
“The shop was so run down, it was in dire need of something new,” said the former restaurateur.
“I actually came to Watsons Bay to look at some real estate for another business venture (looking for a new restaurant nearby) and the agent said to me, the general store is for sale”.
Initially unlikely, the second he walked through the shop he knew “it had legs”.
“It needed a lot of work, so I put my mind into gear and thought about what we could do,” he said.
“I wanted to retain the old original features of the shop. I didn’t want to modernise it.”
So after restoring what he could, he collected 1950s memorabilia and rearranged the shelves into an old fashioned milk bar “like the ones I remember growing up”.

Mission statement:
“Good old fashioned service is paramount!”
